Why Choose Us
Common Questions
If your dog lunges, snaps, growls, or is reactive on leash, you're not alone — and it's not too late. Here's what most owners want to know before reaching out.
In most cases, no. The majority of dogs labelled "too aggressive" are reacting out of fear, frustration, or a lack of clear boundaries — not because they're beyond help. Baker K9 works with dogs displaying a wide range of aggressive and reactive behaviours, including lunging, snapping, resource guarding, and dog-on-dog aggression. A free consultation lets us assess your dog and give you an honest answer before any commitment.
Reactivity is an overreaction to a trigger — another dog, a stranger, a bike — usually expressed as lunging, barking, or pulling on leash. Aggression involves intent to cause harm: growling, snapping, or biting. The two often overlap, and reactive dogs can escalate to aggression if the underlying cause isn't addressed. Both are treatable, and both require a trainer who understands the root cause, not just the surface behaviour.
For reactivity and aggression cases, we recommend private sessions. This is more about teaching you how to manage your dog than teaching the dog to sit and down — though they'll learn that too. Kyle teaches handlers how to manage their dogs through structure and obedience. You'll learn how to recognize the problem, get ahead of potential outbursts, and effectively correct negative behaviour. The goal is to reduce conflict to a minimum.
Though each case is unique, changes start happening after the first session and build from there. Owners leave each lesson with practical tools and a clearer understanding of their dog's behaviour. By the end of the program, you'll feel confident in how to read your dog, get ahead of problems, and handle situations that used to feel overwhelming.
Yes — all breeds welcome. We regularly work with German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Rottweilers, Pit Bulls, and other large or misunderstood breeds. Breed alone doesn't determine behaviour, and we assess each dog as an individual. If your dog has been turned away elsewhere due to breed or aggression history, reach out — we're happy to take a look.

"Kyle changed our lives, truly, and without exaggeration — in less than six weeks. Our 6-month-old dachshund puppies were showing sibling aggression. After the very first session we left confident. By session three they were calm and walking loose leash. At the end of six sessions: calm inside, basic commands, reliable recall, no more sibling aggression. We can't recommend Kyle highly enough!"

"Before training we were dealing with jumping, biting, and barking at dogs and people on walks. Now it honestly feels like we have a different dog — my 8-year-old joked he must have been swapped! He walks calmly past other dogs, stays in his place at parties, and our home feels calmer. Highly, highly recommend!"

"I would not hesitate to recommend Kyle Baker's services to anyone. He's excellent not only with dogs, but with their humans as well — extremely patient, confident, and responsive. As a petite woman, I can now confidently walk my two large dogs on my own without fear of being pulled like a sled. Thanks Kyle!!"

"We adopted Rex, a stray German Shepherd who was reactive and barely responsive. Baker K9 changed everything. After the 4-week board & train, Rex was a completely different dog — I felt immediately comfortable walking him off leash. My wife is thrilled and now enjoys longer walks. 5 out of 5, I would recommend Baker K9 to any dog owner."

"We did the 4-week board & train with our 6-month-old GSD Sierra. When we dropped her off she was full of energy and hard to control. We just picked her up and were blown away with her new demeanour, listening skills, and walking ability. Kyle constantly gave us updates and videos throughout. We still have our same silly, goofy girl — but now with a strong, obedient side too!"

"Before training, Bella would pull on leash and disobey every command. Now she heels, sits, stays, and holds her place even with full distractions — and won't move until told. The transformation is incredible."
